Some Halloween decorations are spooky.
This girl? She has attitude.
With her bright green face, pink cat-eye sunglasses, purple curls, polka-dot hat and oversized flower, she brings the fun side of Halloween straight to the front door. And then there’s my favorite little detail — the spider dangling from her hat on a wire.
She makes me smile every time I look at her.
That’s exactly the kind of Halloween decorating I love at Blue Brook: colorful, whimsical and full of personality. Something that catches your eye from the street, makes the front porch feel festive and gives people a reason to take a second look.
Painted by hand, one at a time
This Witch Door Hanger starts with 1/4-inch plywood and is cut and painted by hand.
Those little details you see — the curls, sunglasses, flower, facial features, outlining and all that personality — come together at the paint table, one step at a time.
Then she’s sealed for indoor or covered-porch display and finished with a sturdy wire hanger so she arrives ready to hang.
And that dangling spider?
He gets his own spot hanging from her hat on a wire. It’s such a simple little detail, but it gives this witch even more personality.
Where would you put her?
Of course, I love her right on the front door. Add a few pumpkins, mums or a lantern around the entry and you've got a Halloween porch that feels festive without being scary.
But she doesn't have to live on the door.
Try her on a covered porch, in an entryway, or even as part of an indoor Halloween display. Her bright colors make her easy to work into fall decorating without everything having to be orange and black.
And those pink sunglasses?
They pretty much guarantee she’s going to get noticed.
